Welcome to todays ‘Book Friday’ review of the first full length history of the British Armed Forces’ war in Afghanistan. This book is different to those by Theo Farrell and Mike Martin - both strongly recommended - because it doesn’t purport either to be a political argument or to develop a particular polemic. He’s not adverse to making pertinent political and military comment, but his primary purpose is to allow the story to reveal itself. In my view he does it brilliantly.
