Churchill’s D-Day by Allen Packman and Richard Dannatt is an excellent book, placing the Prime Minister centre stage of the greatest military operation of the modern age and revealing much about the wartime Prime Minister’s approach to strategy and his relentless concern to minimise French civilian casualties.
