Absolutely agree Rob. I think most senior leaders get it but the politicians and Treasury are driven by separate imperatives. Treasury is on a short term

Cyclical system that constantly robs Peter to pay Paul. The politicians aren’t driven by public service as much as party politics now. It’s about what their members want and a desperate desire to cling on to power despite ever reducing returns and ever less capable people in offices of state after each reshuffle and leadership challenge. Feels more like France ore-war than Britain pre-war when Chamberlain stalled for time to re-arm.

As an American ( as a Veteran which my opinion is limited by the era in service early 80’s) and old enough to feel; to know their fear, their steady resolve of the “ greatest generation” ! I am deeply disappointed in the present National awareness of my countries understanding of their presence in the World or are they plainly just self absorbed?

To be fair in my opinion the leadership of generation before me lead the U.S. economy into a philosophy of Neo liberalism that has used 40 to 50 yrs of trickle dwn economics to teach Americans that they pay too much taxes and any further taxes collected are wasted on feeding lazy government workers or programs to feed the lazy!

Instead we see the present generational families struggling with stagnant wages and no future possibilities of any savings for retirement never mind a family emergency! Americans fooled by

their leaders that real patriotism is to spend their savings on the Nations Corporation’s production line and their owners profits! Have doomed our grandchildren and great children to pay for those lost revenues and the Countries technological infrastructure!

The present U.S. Corporations profit tax rate is 21% and if the political administration changes there is predicted lowering it to 15% after yr 25 . So what I believe I am seeing with the thought’s of the last 3 to 4 generations since “the greatest” is being totally clouded with resentment! The American work ethic has always been tied up with our history of immigration where the next generation ( if they honestly work hard ) will always do better than the next!

This belief is strong to the preset day that U.S. seeing it drawing hundreds thousands a month to our borders with illegal aliens seeking that “ guarantee “! The present generation is seeing the failure of that guarantee for US citizens and now seek revenge ( or protection) in leadership that shouts “ I am your vengeance !”

The “ greatest generation “ saw their grinded hopes rewarded but now the present generation see now or believe it being supplanted by this invasion of illegal aliens who havnt ever known a life without hunger! Yes this is what is clouding the minds of most US citizens that their “ guarantee of better like then your parents “ is being taken by an invasion on their immediate borders. Ukraine or Gaza ???????
