Tanks, their past, present and future

A plug for Hamish de Bretton Gordon's new book, 'Tank Command'

Hamish de Bretton Gordon has written something of a love letter to the tank in British military service. Its a good, short, snappy read, Hamish emphasising throughout that tanks are important components of battlefield mobility, and need to be seen as part of a system of combat manoeuvre. I agree with him that in 100-years time someone like him will be writing something similar about tanks in their day.

Is the tank dead? Only if you use them in penny-packets and as stand alone tools in your armoury. Otherwise, they’re important elements of ground combat capability and, sensibly used, have and will have a role to play in combat for a long time to come.
