Fascinating. A troll rather than a bot then. Doing some research recently it appears that Gen Z and Gen Alpha have strong socialist aspirations but without the understanding or research to back up their views. Perhaps too much time in early formative years on digital platforms owned and curated by hostile states like Tik Tok and Discord. Russia’s active measures playbook is to subvert societies over a 20-30 year epoch so perhaps we are reaping what they sowed years back?
Nick, take a look at how most of this 21st Century "revolution in thought" is being driven not by knowledge, but by emotions. The term toxic empathy is being used to describe how the "progressive left" is engaging people - especially the younger generations - for its cause not by engaging in reason and logic but through empathy for the human condition. The emotional reaction of Dr. Lyman's protagonist is a perfect example of where this type of toxic emotional engagement ends up - in a radicalized individual.
We are in the violent stages of the global Marxist revolution.
It’s been planned for over a century.
All of the socio-economic parts of the plan have been executed - denude education, reduce the importance of rationality in favour of emotion, give the young no discipline, no ties and nothing to aim for; introduce agents provocateurs; demonise and criminalise those who stand for order and justice………
If he wishes to help the planet, there's some mines he can uproot in Africa, Middle East, South-East Asia, Ukraine... I've got Starbucks coffee stirrer here for him.
Carl Trueman’s recent book on ‘Desecration’ is required reading here. His point is that the wholly nihilistic and iconoclastic vision of Nietzsche (and Marx) has now been realised. The tragic correspondent in this exchange exemplifies the desire to destroy everything good, noble and true: God himself and all he has ordained and approved, which includes the nation state and rightful authority exercised by that state, above all justice and defence.
The most alarming reality is the number of ostensibly ‘educated’ people who fall for all this. Let’s see how Zack Polanski gets on in tomorrow’s polls.
Name calling and wishing death on you, all the signs of someone long on emotion and short on logic having lost a debate. I got into a back and forth with someone like this on here before. The profanity and name calling stopped right after I pointed out that he was acting like his favorite president!
The writer sounds like the partially-witted, arch conservative, Christian nationalist sort of dweeb who sends angry hate mail to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which the FFRF gleefully reproduces in the “Crank Mail” section of its monthly newsletter. It’s one of my favorite monthly reads! I’m not sure if you can trust his claims to being an American or a progressive. He (or possibly she, but most likely he) probably included those bits to fill out his character. Anyway, my sympathies.
He strikes me as both mentally ill and terminally dim.

Yes, lots of youngsters appear to hold these nihilistic views.
Wow. And I thought Substack was still a peaceful place.
Don't feed the trolls Dr. Lyman! But I did enjoy how silly they proved themselves to be
It is so sad. Someone living in the US (or at least, originally from US), claiming that the only solution in socialism.
Oh my. As a citizen of a former communist country, I’m not sure where to laugh out loud at that, or cry at the stupidity of it.

……….light the touch paper.
I know many hard-core progressives, with whom I often end up in arguments, and every one of them would describe that individual as ill.

Well, they sound like a very pleasant person. 🤣
Yes...'pleasant' is a...word 😬.
I've had my fair share of trolls but that exchange, my word.
Poor person is clearly living with some undiagnosed / under-medicated issues. They’re still a knobhead though.
I am surprised there is internet in that Louisiana sinkhole. Put there by capitalists of course.

Unfortunately, they move amongst us, as the usurpation of the (UK) Green Party and, elsewhere, the likes of Rayner and Alistair Campbell confirm.
