I’m very excited to be able to tell you that after many months of software build, the first iteration of the new guidl platform was revealed a month ago at the end of October 2023. We’ll release the platform via an app on your mobile phone in January 2024. You’ll then be able to upload your own guild/guidl Tours on the platform as well as download others to enjoy.

Its hugely exciting! What is it? guidl (lowercase ‘g’) is the name of a new platform that allows YOU to upload audio snapshots of a place, to be listened to and enjoyed by others. Individual guidls (up to 10-minutes in length) can be grouped together to form a guidl Tour, purchased for a reasonable fee by listeners. Indeed, I’ve just finished uploading my first set of six guidls: unsurprisingly perhaps the Siege of Kohima 4-20 April 1944. When the app goes lives you’ll be able to listen to it, and before long millions of others covering every space on earth. You can listen to them when you visit a place (the app is geo-located, using the GPS functionality in your smart phone), or you can easily sit back at home, look at a map and consume the guidls or guidl tours from your armchair.
Our lovely new website is also up, here. Do have a look around: it should tell you everything you need to know. If not, send me an email at robert@guidl.tours and I’ll try to answer your questions.
The future of guild is in your hands. Do you have a story to tell about any place on earth? It could be a place you’ve studied in detail; it might be place of interest locally. Create an account with guidl and upload your stories to the platform. guidl will be the place where you’ll be able to express your brilliance about a story, a place or a bit of history important to you. Follow the link on the website to join in the fun.
