Those of my readers who are also authors will understand that writers spend their lives praying for good reviews, and trying to shelter from the threat of hostile ones, hiding in the trenches wearing tin hats and ducking at the sign of incoming criticism. The literary/historical field doesn’t tend to take prisoners!
Sometimes enemy activity on the battlefield is quiet, however, the sun shining brightly, and mail, rations and ammunition all getting to the front unhindered. I’ve decided to post this wonderful review from the Middle Ground journal, as perspicacious a journal as they come, in the desire to share the joy. Its a combined review of my A War of Empires with my friends Dan Marston and Ray Callahan’s exceptional The 1945 Burma Campaign. I’m just pleased to be counted alongside these two giants of the Burma scene.
Enjoy!
Fantastic review, Rob. I'm looking forward to reading this. The successes of the Indian Army deserve to be remembered and not undermined by nationalist myth making.
Very good review from which I would not depart.
