I’m delighted to announce that the National Army Museum is hosting an entire weekend of talks over the weekend of 20-21 April to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the battle of Kohima.
Prepared in conjunction with the Kohima Educational Trust, the programme includes talks by me, James Holland, Fergal Keane, Steve Snelling, Colonel Soundararajan Jagdish, Christopher Jary, Alan Jeffreys and Rob Palmer. Subjects range from General Bill Slim, the Battle of the Box, the Siege of Kohima, the Dorsets at Kohima, Burma VCs and more. Charlotte Carty, granddaughter of Lt Col Bruno Brown, CO of the 1st Assam Regiment, will present a description of the 39-Hour Walk from Jessami to Kohima to be held over the period 1-3 April, and I will interview Lord Slim and the Hon. Mary Ann Slim on the subject ‘My Grandfather’s War’.
In addition, excitingly, Hannah Watson’s new book The Jungle War will be launched, with Hannah introducing the background story to this marvellous new book, published by the Gurkha Museum.
The full programme can be found here.
Its going to be a fabulous weekend. Do try to make sure that you are there!
I’ll be there for a simple ceremony on 4 April. Look forward to meeting you
Sadly not. Unfortunately, as a small charity dedicated to Naga causes, we couldn’t justify the expense of live streaming or recording.
